Deputy Chief of Staff Operations and Intelligence

Maj. Gen Scott A. Kindsvater is the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations and Intelligence Directorate, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, Casteau, Belgium. He is responsible for ensuring Allied Command Operations Conventional and Nuclear Forces are ready to carry out collective defense for the NATO Alliance. He supervises and directs SHAPE’s Comprehensive Crisis and Management Centre as well as SHAPE’s J2, J3 and J9 divisions.
 
General Kindsvater entered the Air Force in 1989 as a graduate of the Air Force Academy. He has flown more than 3,600 hours in the F-15E, over 600 of which are combat hour over Iraq and Afghanistan. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School, General Kindsvater also instructed at the Air Force Weapons School, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. General Kindsvater has commanded at multiple levels of the U.S. Air Force including the 336th Fighter Squadron, 336th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron three times, was Commandant of the USAF Weapons School, and commanded the 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing and 82nd Training Wing.  Prior to this assignment he was the Deputy Commander, Operations and Intelligence, Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, U.S. Central Command; Director, Joint Air Component Coordination Element; and Commander, 9th Air Expeditionary Task Force-Levant, Air Component Command, Southwest Asia. Gen Kindsvater attended the Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He has held various staff assignments to include 9th Air Force, U.S. Air Force Central Command, USAF Headquarters, Office of the Defense Representative-Pakistan, the Joint Staff, and Military Fellow to the U.S. Senator Pat Roberts.
