Deputy Chief of Staff Military Cooperation
Major General Fucsku was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff Military Cooperation, SHAPE on 28 July 2011. Prior to joining SHAPE, he was assigned as Chief of Staff of Joint Force Command Hungarian Defence Forces.
Maj Gen Fucsku's first assignment was as Commander of the Reconnaissance Company and Chief of Reconnaissance 62nd Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Hódmezővásárhely where he served until taking up a position in S-2 of the 62nd Mechanized Infantry Regiment in 1987. After graduation from Miklos Zrinyi Defence University he was assigned to G-2 of the 65th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Nyíregyháza where he remained until being appointed as a Staff Officer of the HQ Land Forces Command HDF, Székesfehérvár between 1991 and 1995, followed by a tour as Adjutant of Vice Chief of General Staff MoD, Budapest. In 1997 when he was appointed as Senior Intelligence Officer of Intelligence Directorate of GS HDF, Budapest. In 2000, Maj Gen Fucsku was appointed as Deputy Head of Plans and Policy Branch of Intelligence Directorate of GS HUN MoD, Budapest before being assigned to NAPLES in 2001 as Deputy Chief of Hungarian National Intelligence Cell (HUN NIC) HQ JFC.
From 2004 – 2005 Maj Gen Fucsku served as Co-ordination Chief of J-2 GS MoD, Budapest followed by an appointment as a Staff Officer at PSOTC Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina between February 2006 and February 2007. In 2007, he was appointed as Chief of J-2, Joint Force Command HDF, Székesfehérvár where he remained until 2010. Whilst undertaking this appointment, he served a tour of duty as Chief of Staff ISAF RC North between February and September 2009. In June 2010, Maj Gen Fucsku was appointed as Chief of Staff of Joint Force Command Hungarian Defence Forces.
His military education includes ‘Kossuth Lajos' Military College, Reconnaissance Branch, Szentendre, the ‘Zrínyi Miklós' National Military Academy, Reconnaissance Branch, Budapest and ‘Bundeswehr' Military Academy General Staff Course, Hamburg. Major General Fucsku's awards and decorations include: Merit of Gold Service Medal; Merit of Silver Service Medal; Bronze grade Medal for Home Service; the Officer's Service Sign 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class; the NATO Service Medal; the ESDP Service Medal; the Service Sign for Peace Keeping Operation (Bosnia – Herzegovina); the Merit Medal for ISAF mission; the Service Sign for Peace Keeping Operation (Afghanistan) and the Service Sign for Flood Control and Disaster Relief.
MG Fucsku married to Gyongyi, with two daughters.
